The Firm

Pinsent Masons is a full service international law firm and ranks amongst the top 75 global law firms. The firm provides legal services to a wide variety of clients, in particular across their five global sectors of advanced manufacturing and technology services, energy, financial services, infrastructure and real estate. Pinsent Masons is the only firm to operate across all three UK jurisdictions and we have been developing our overseas network of offices in the Asia Pacific region, Europe and the Middle East. This reflects their strategy to become a firm of truly international reach, offering world-class service and excellent value.

The Work

Organised into four key practice groups: finance and projects, property, transactional services and risk advisory services, one can expect to get involved in interesting, highly commercial, client-facing work from the earliest stage in your career. Pinsent Masons’ aim is to develop trainees to become fully-rounded commercial lawyers and business advisers.

Trainee Profile and Training

Pinsent Masons is a firm which truly celebrates diversity with over 60% of PM's trainees are female and a sizeable number come from ethnic minority backgrounds. In 2016 the firm was once again named in The Times' Top 50 Employers for Women and ranked fourth in the Stonewall Index of LGBT employers, the highest placed law firm on the list.

The firm seeks exceptional individuals who are driven, confident and commercially interested. It is not about the school or university you attended, but your unique qualities as an individual and what you can bring to the firm, which will make you successful. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to develop strong working relationships with both clients and colleagues. This diverse workplace is complemented by a wide variety of work, and trainees can choose from a plethora of seats – 25.

The Pinsent Masons training contract has been developed in-house, ensuring trainees receive a balanced and comprehensive introduction to the profession. Trainees complete four, six-month seats, giving one the necessary time to develop the legal and commercial depth of understanding required to take on real client-facing responsibility. During the second year of training opportunities to undertake secondments to one of the firm’s clients are available.
