Ewan Mennie is a second-year undergraduate LLB student and Vice-Chair of Debate. In his role, he helps to organise the UBLC’s First Year Debate Competition and the Hunt Cup.
Last year, Ewan was a finalist in the First Year Debate Competition, won a debate against UCL at varsity level and reached the quarter-final of the Hunt Cup. Prior to university, Ewan was actively involved in debating, winning his Sixth Form Debate Competition, coaching debate training sessions for younger years and representing his school on a national level. With such experience in debating, Ewan hopes to develop a stronger internal network of UBLC members interested in debating to create a productive environment where students can learn and improve on their debate skills, as well as developing teamwork and leadership skills to carry forward for future work.
Ewan is aiming to pursue a career in commercial law, with a focus on intellectual property rights and dispute resolution and global transactions. Outside of academics, Ewan plays guitar and shoots film photography, with work published by the University of Bristol Photographic Society in their yearly photography magazine Exposure.
He looks forward to a productive year with the UBLC.
